Research Interest
  • Optical Fibre Sensor & Fibre optics with special interest on development of temperature sensor & strain sensor based on Fibre Bragg grating (FBG), Fibre Bragg Grating (FBG) accelerometers for geophysical applications and seismic monitoring, Fibre-optic sensor technology for detection of chemical species in liquid/ gas phase using fibre-loop /FBG based resonators, development of chemical sensors using Microstructure Optical Fibre (MOF) for detection of chemical species, biomedical sensors, packaging of fibre-sensors and characterization.

Notable Research Contribution
  • Developed Fibre Bragg Grating (FBG) based temperature sensor and special packaging for monitoring conductor temperature of high voltage (400KV) power transmission lines in POWERGRID substation.
  • Developed FBG based strain sensor and special packaging for structural health monitoring.
  • Developed optical fibre-ring loop resonators to study cavity ring-down spectroscopy of species.
  • Developed a Fabry-Perot sensor system for vibration measurement of electrical switch gear (PhD project).
  • Developed fibre-optic components such as 3dB coupler, different power ratio couplers (60:40%, 70:30, 80:20, 90:10, 95:5 etc.).
  • Developed special skill to fabricate WDMs (coupler) for different wavelengths such as 1550:1310nm, 980:1550nm etc.
  • Developed some biconical taper fibres for sensor applications.
