A two-day national seminar on Information and Knowledge Dissemination : Present Status and Future Direction is being organized by Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute, Kolkata during 6-7 May, 2011 as a part of year-long diamond jubilee celebration of the Institute. Wide dissemination of appropriate knowledge for any domain becomes crucial for a growing economy like India. At the same time, dissemination of knowledge and its many facets - knowledge recording, storing, presentation, application, and creation have become crucial research issue. In modern era, many recent advances on the Web, including Blog, RSS, and Wiki has great impact on knowledge dissemination and sharing for the needs of the society.

Objectives
The objective of the seminar is to provide a platform for exchange of knowledge and skills on present practices relevant to information professionals in India with a global perspective. It would provide an opportunity to discuss the trends of knowledge dissemination, the driving forces behind them, the social impact, the affected old technologies, the emerging products and services and their applications to shape India in future.
