The Khurja Outreach of CGCRI organised a two-day National Seminar on Traditional Ceramics (NSTC) - 2011 within its premises during February 24-to 25,2010. The Seminar was inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr. Vinod Arya, Hon’ble State Minister and Vice President, Mati Kala Board, Uttarakhand. Dr. A.L. Shashi Mohan, President, Indian Ceramic Society was the Guest of Honour. The Welcome address was delivered by Dr. S. Ghatak, Senior Scientist, CGCRI Kolkata while Dr. L. K. Sharma, Convenor NSTC-2011 and Scientist-in-Charge CGCRI, Khurja Centre gave a brief introduction on the activities of the Institute. Dr. Shashi Mohan in his address, emphasized on the importance of the Seminar for the development of the ceramic industries in the region.

The programme was attended by 163 of delegates from industries, academic institutions and R&D organizations in the country. In all, 26 lectures were delivered by participants from both industry and academia.

The seminar concluded with the Panel discussion where the panel of experts expressed their views and suggestions about the Seminar. The panel concluded that the more seminar of the kind would be extremely useful for industry. The present seminar met the objectives of new trends on traditional ceramics.
