It is my great pleasure to welcome the online visitors of CSIR-Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute (CSIR-CGCRI), Kolkata, West Bengal, India. I recently took over charge as the eighth Director of this prestigious institute which is among the first four laboratories set up under the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR). CSIR-CGCRI is the only national laboratory dedicated to R&D in the area of ‘Advanced Glass and Ceramics’
in the country. Our activities are focussed under major areas of research viz. Advanced and Functional Glasses and Coatings, Advanced and Functional Ceramics, and Advanced Engineering and Structural Ceramics. The inter-disciplinary combination of highly competent Team CSIR-CGCRI
also caters to the huge and ever-growing needs of various R&D sectors of the country in the areas of Advanced Glass, Oxide and Non-oxide Ceramics, Bio-ceramics, Structural Ceramics and Composites. We also work on Process-Structure-Property Correlations
of a variety of materials related to Optical, Biotechnology, Energy as well as Structural Applications. Further, we are also committed to develop technologies for various R&D sectors and important National missions such as Make in India, Swachch Bharat, Swasthya Bharat, and Innovate in India.
