  • Dr. Sumana Ghosh, Senior Scientist, Bio-ceramics and Coating Division, acted as an invited reviewer for a research proposal submitted to the executive government agency of National Science Centre, ul. Królewska 57, 30-081 Kraków, Poland, 2017.
  • Dr. Biswanath Kundu, Shri Arun Chandra Das, Shri Swapan Kumar Majumder, Dr. Someswar Datta and Dr. Vamsi Krishna Balla has received Best Technology Award (during April 2015-March 2016) from CSIR-CGCRI Kolkata on the category of Best Technology (Transferred) for their Technology on Manufacture of Bioactive Ceramic Scaffolds/ Granules and Integrated Orbital Implant transferred to M/s General Surgical Company (India) Pvt. Ltd. (GESCO), Chennai on 31/05/2016.
  • Dr. K. Muraleedharan, Director, CSIR-CGCRI been elected as vice-President of Indian Ceramic Society (2017-2018).
  • Dr. K. Muraleedharan, Director, CSIR-CGCRI has become a member of the Committee for Asia Pacific Society of Microscopy (CAPSM) executive board for the period Jan 2017 to Dec 2020.
  • Dr. P. Sujatha Devi, Senior Principal Scientist, Sensor & Actuator Division received the MRSI-ICSC Superconductivity & Materials Science Annual Prize during the 28th AGM of Materials Research Society of India held at IIT-Bombay from 13-15th February 2017.
  • Dr. Goutam De, Chief Scientist, Nano-Structured Materials Division has been elected to the council of West Bengal Academy of Science and Technology for the term 2017-2018.
  • Dr. P. Sujatha Devi, Senior Principal Scientist, Sensor & Actuator Division has been re-elected as the Editor of “Transactions of the Indian Ceramic Society for the second term 2017-2018.
  • Dr. P. Sujatha Devi, Senior Principal Scientist, Sensor & Actuator Division has been elected to the council of West Bengal Academy of Science and Technology for the term 2017-2018.
  • Dr. K. Muraleedharan, Director CSIR-CGCRI, elected as a Fellow of the West Bengal Academy of Science & Technology for the year 2016.
  • Dr. K. Muraleedharan, Director, CSIR-CGCRI, received the 2016 IIM Hindustan-Zinc Gold Medal from Indian Institute of Metals.
  • Dr. Sunirmal Jana, Principal Scientist, Sol-Gel Division won the Distinguish Scientist Award of Venus International Foundation, Chennai (Research Awards VIRA 2016) for the contribution and achievement in the field of Thin Films.
  • GPA Maintenance Unit, CSIR-CGCRI Bags ENCON Award 2016 - A team led by Mr Avijit Ghosh, Principal Technical Officer and Head, GPA Maintenance Unit, CSIR-CGCRI carried out this award winning effort and received the CII-Energy Conservation Award, ENCON Award-2016, for making systematic, commendable and serious attempts for efficient utilization of energy and significant improvement in conservation of energy.

  • Sayantan Ray , Suman Saha , Rituparna Acharya and Jui Chakraborty received the best poster prize for the paper entitled, ‘Value added multifunctional injectable bone augmentation material for treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture in elderly patients’, at the International conference on ‘Energy, Functional Material and Nanotechnology’, (ICEFN-2016), Kumaun University, Nainital, March 27-29th , 2016.
  • Sayantan Ray, Suman Saha, Biswanath Sa and Jui Chakraborty received the best poster prize for the paper entitled, ‘Nanoclay based drug delivery: the promises and scopes in cancer treatment’, at the 5th International conference on Society for pharmaceutical education and research (SPER-2016), at College of Pharmacy, Chandigarh, during 4-5th March, 2016.
  • Sudeep Paul, A. Pal, A. Roy Choudhury, V. K. Balla, A. Sinha and Mitun Das, received the best poster award at National Seminar on Recent Advances on Multifunctional Materials (RA2M), Haldia Institute of Technology, Haldia, West Bengal, India, 3rd - 4th February, 2017
  • Itishree Ratha, Sabyasachi Chatterjee, Akrity Anand, Biswanath Kundu and Gopinatha Suresh Kumar received the best poster presentation award during XXVI National Conference along with the International Conference on “Biomaterials, Biodiagnostics, Tissue Engineering, Drug Delivery & Regenerative Medicine”, April 15-17, 2016 at Indian Institute of Technology – Delhi (IIT Delhi), New Delhi organized by SBAOI, Thiruvanthapuram, India.
  • Sayantan Ray, Suman Saha, Rituparna Acharya, Biswanath Sa and Jui Chakraborty received the best poster prize for the paper entitled, ‘Unique bioactive glass based bone augmentation material for treatment of geriatric population suffering from osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture’, at the International conference on advances in glass science and technology (ICAGST), 2017, during January 23-25th, 2017, held at CSIR-CGCRI.
  • Mr. Anurag Roy, DST INSPIRE SRF from Sensor and Actuator Division received 2nd (second) prize in the poster presentation entitled “Enhanced Stability of Zn2SnO4 Ceramic as a Photoanode in Dye Sensitized Solar Cells” co-authored by Partha Pratim Das, Susmita Das and P. Sujatha Devi at the International Conference on Ceramic, Glass and Refractories Emerging Innovation at the 80th Annual General Meeting of the Indian Ceramic Society held at CSIR Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad during 13-15 December, 2016.
  • Dr. Lata Ramrakhiani, DST Women Scientist working with Dr. Sourja Ghosh, Ceramic Membrane Division received the Best Poster Award for the poster entitled “Bio sorption efficiency enhancement via pre-treatment of natural bio sorbent for treatment of domestic and industrial waste water” in the International Conference on Strategies for Environmental Protection and Management (ICSEPM2016) organized by School of Environment Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, during 11-13 December 2016.
  • Dr Sourja Ghosh, Senior Scientist, Ceramic Membrane Division, received the INCON SWM 2016 excellent paper award in the International Conference of Solid Waste Management, 6th ICON SWM 2016, held at Jadavpur University, Kolkata, during November 24-26, 2016, for the paper entitled “Grey water treatment using waste biomass derived biosorbent for recycling in agricultural applications” authored by Priyankari Bhattacharya, Sourja Ghosh and Swachchha Majumdar.
  • Dr Debdulal Saha won Best Oral Presentation award at the International Conference on 'Advances in Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology (ICANN- 2016) organised by Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, India, on 4th - 5th November 2016.
  • Mr Quazi Arif Islam, SRF, Fuel Cell and Battery Division, received the best oral presentation award at the MRSI Young Scientists’ Colloquium-2016 held at S.N. Bose National Centre for Basic Science, Kolkata on September 16, 2016 for his paper “Synthesis of nanotubes from bio-waste Eichchornia crassipes: A novel approach to develop oxygen separation membrane.”
  • Ms Indranee Das, SRF, Nano-structured Materials Division, received the best oral presentation award at the MRSI Young Scientists’ Colloquium-2016 held at S.N. Bose National Centre for Basic Science, Kolkata on September 16, 2016, for her paper “Extremely robust zirconia based super hydrophobic coating on cotton fabrics for diverse applications.”
  • Soumita Mukhopadhyay, SRF, Sensor & Actuator Division received the poster award at the MRSI Young Scientists’ Colloquium-2016, held at S.N. Bose National Centre for Basic Science, Kolkata on September 16, 2016, for her paper entitled “Photo-voltaic and catalytic performance of anatase TiO2 nanotubes with co-exposed {110} and {001} facets.”
  • Mr Sayantan Ray received 'Young Scientist' award at International Conference on 'Energy, Functional Materials & Nanotechnology’ (ICEFN-2016).
  • Chandrima Ghosh, A Ghosh, S Pasari and S Sinhamahapatra of Refractory Division, CSIR-CGCRI received the Best Poster Presentation Award in the poster presentation entitled “Plasma fused magnesium aluminate spinel from Indian magnesite" during International Conference on Advances in Engineering & Technology (ICAET-2016) held at Govt. College of Engineering and Ceramic Technology, Kolkata during April 4- 5, 2016.
  • Sayantan Ray, Suman Saha, Rituparna Acharya and Jui Chakraborty of Bioceramics and Coating Division, CSIR-CGCRI have received Best Poster Award for the poster presentation entitled "Value Added Multifunctional Injectable Bone Augmentation Material for Treatment of Osteoporotic Vertebral Compression Fracture in Elderly Patients" at International Conference on 'Energy, Functional Materials & Nanotechnology' (ICEFN-2016), during March 27-29, 2016 organised by Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Centre, Department of Chemistry, Kumaun University, Nainital, Uttarakhand.
  • Chandrima Ghosh, S Pasari, A Ghosh and S Sinhamahapatra of CSIR-CGCRI and S K Singh of CSIR-IMMT received the First prize in the poster presentation entitled “Plasma fused magnesia refractory aggregates from Indian natural magnesite" during 11th Indian International Refractory Congress 2016 organised by Indian Refractory Makers Association on January 20, 2016 at Hyderabad.
