The Refractories Division of CG&CRI has been instrumental in the development of a wide range of refractories for steel, cement, glass and other high temperature processing industries. Several of the newer refractory processes developed in the laboratory have been commercialized by many of the major refractory manufacturers of the country. Many externally funded projects sponsored by corporate sectors as well as in-house projects have been completed successfully. Some important projects are also undertaken recently. The division also engaged in the research activities on the gainful utilization of solid wastes generated by iron and steel and other processing industries and refractory recyling The Division is fully equipped with all refractory testing facilities fulfilling most of the international and national standards. The testing wing is serving the R&D, academic institutions and refractory industries of the country to the full extent.
