A pioneer knowledge resource centre for glass, ceramics, enamels, refractories, mica etc. was established on August 26, 1950. That time many print journals were received in the Library on exchange of CGCRI Bulletin which started to publish in 1954. The library started bringing out a monthly publication of classified titles under as \u201cCGCR Documentation List\u201d&nbsp; in 1966. The library was housed in a hall adjacent to Director\u2019s office but in 2005 was shifted to a new site of the Institute merged with the three units, Library, Documentation and Data Bank as named as &nbsp;<strong>S Kumar Library<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img src=\"https:\/\/www.cgcri.res.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/krc1-300x200.jpg\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.cgcri.res.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/krc2-300x200.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is a special library equipped with good collection of books, print journals, patents and standards, state-of-the art facilities and technology infrastructure, professional manpower, centralised computer facility and access to various e-journals including search database Web of Science (Bibliographic Database), Derwent Innovation Index, ASTM Standards, Plagiarism detection software under National Knowledge Resource Consortium. Thesis are displayed in Thesis Zone at Library.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.cgcri.res.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/krc3-300x182.jpg\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.cgcri.res.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/krc4-300x172.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The CSIR-CGCRI Knowledge Resource Centre (KRC) has information resources on various subjects of Science and Technology. It endeavours to provide the latest information to the scientists, technologists, research scholars, research interns and project assistants of the Institute in their day-to-day R&amp;D work and also to extend its facilities to the users of various academic, research and industrial organizations. The visitors are allowed to avail the facilities with the approval of competent authority. The KRC has an open access system for its internal users.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=&#8221;Access to e-Resources through One Nation One Subscription (ONOS)&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.3.2&#8243; open=&#8221;off&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) initiative is aimed at&nbsp;<em><strong>providing access to scholarly research content<\/strong><\/em>&nbsp;to all individuals in the country. ONOS intends to acquire national licenses for e-journal\/database subscriptions (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.onos.gov.in\/publishers\"><strong>https:\/\/www.onos.gov.in\/publishers<\/strong><\/a>) from most of the prominent journal publishers. A total of 30 major international journal publishers have been included in ONOS. All the journals published by these publishers will be accessible to the students, faculty members and researchers of the participating institutions. Circulation Counter remains open from 10.00 AM to 5.30 PM.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Permanent staff and JRF\/SRF\/RA\/PA can borrow only six books\/bound volume journals at a time for a period of 90 days. Books of special demand are lent out only for shorter period.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Encyclopedia, Dictionaries, Directories and other Reference books shall not be issued; it is only for use inside the library.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Current periodicals are issued for duration of overnight only.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Before leaving the KRC\/library, the reader shall be satisfied as to whether the book issued to him\/her is in sound condition. If not, he\/she shall forthwith bring the matter to the notice of in-charge\/staff of KRC\/Library; otherwise the reader is liable to be held responsible for condition of the book.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Loan of documents may be renewed for a further period if:<br \/>\ni) Demand for the document is not received.<br \/>\nii) Renewal does not exceed three consecutive times.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">If the document is reported (in writing) as lost or mutilation by users<br \/>\ni) Lost documents have to be replaced by the users.<br \/>\nii) Photocopy of the lost document is not acceptable.<br \/>\niii)&nbsp; If the lost document is not available in the market the user has to pay the amount which will be decided by the KRC\/Library Committee.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">The computers are there at Central Computer Facility of KRC for browsing and searching e-resources and databases and also for other academic purposes.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">To use the library reading room, user must register their biographical details mentioned.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">An outsider willing to use the KRC shall enter with the prior permission of the Competent Authority.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Staff members\/users may suggest documents (books\/journals, databases etc.) for consideration to be included in the KRC\/Library.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Private belongings shall be kept in the designated place of the KRC\/Library.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Silence should be observed inside the KRC\/Library<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">The users shall be responsible for any damage or mutilation done to the documents (books, periodicals, CDs, etc.) and shall be required to replace such documents or to pay the value thereof.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Eatables, smoking, spitting &amp; sleeping are strictly prohibited in the KRC.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Usage of mobile phone is not permitted inside the KRC\/Library.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Anyone who violates the rules and regulations may be either punished or debarred from using the KRC\/library facilities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=&#8221;KRC Advisory Committee &#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.3.2&#8243; open=&#8221;off&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The KRC Advisory Committee consists of Scientists as members representing each subject area and it is headed by Chairman of the Committee. The KRC Advisory Committee (KAC) is to be appointed by the Head of the Institution.
