Research Interest

Advanced materials based on non oxide ceramics. Opened up a new area of research in our country, called oxynitride ceramics. Studies include phase relationships, formation mechanisms, optical & thermo-mechanical properties, component developments for wear, thermo-mechanical & optical applications.

Landmark Research Contribution

Phase relationships, machanism of formation and densification of phases in the (M)-Si-Al-O-N & (M)-Al-O-N systems, engineering components for different wear & thermo-mechanical applications, precursor non-oxide powders for structural applications, IR- transparent windows.
