August 19-21, 2026

A series of review visits and interactions under the project “Establishment of a Centre of Innovation & a Manufacturing Eco-System for Sensors (CIMES) in Industrial IoT” was successfully conducted during 19–21 August 2026 at CSIR–Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute (CSIR-CGCRI), Kolkata, and associated CIMES facilities, including the CIMES Facility at WEBEL, Taratala, and the Sensor Fabrication Facility at Aimil Ltd.
On 19 August 2026, officials from MeitY visited the CIMES Facility at WEBEL, Taratala, to review the facility and ongoing activities under the project.
On 20 August 2026, MeitY officials and ERC members visited the CIMES Facility at CSIR-CGCRI. As part of the visit, the Sixth Expert Review Committee (ERC) Meeting was conducted to review the progress of the CIMES project, discuss future plans, and assess the milestones achieved. The meeting featured addresses by Dr. Sangeeta Semwal, Scientist 'E'/Additional Director, MeitY, GoI, Professor Bikramjit Basu, Director, CSIR-CGCRI, and Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, Director, IIT Ropar and Chairman, ERC. This was followed by a presentation by Dr. Nandini Basumallik and the CIMES Team on project progress, future plans, and milestones.
The visit programme on 20 August also included a visit to the Sensor Fabrication Facility at Aimil Ltd.(industry partner), along with interactions with project collaborators.
The programme concluded on 21 August 2026 with further interactions with collaborators and experts. The successful completion of these review visits and associated ERC activities provided valuable inputs for the continued implementation and future direction of the CIMES project.
