As a part of an initiative under LSRB of the DRDO, nano-graphite incorporated polyurethane based nanocomposite has been developed upto 2 kg batch level for making light weight, anticorrosive and flexible shoe-outsoles for the use of military personnel working especially in marine environment. A facility has been created with the designed and fabricated reactor/smelter for making the nanocomposite by bottom pouring melt quenching technique. About 20 pairs of shoe-outsoles with the desired materials properties have been delivered to the user for further validation.
