RESEARCH INTEREST

Our research is targeting the next generation of materials for hydrogen generation, fuel cell, and environmental remedy. This research is underpinned by fundamental experimental studies into the role that the chemical structure of materials, leading to the rational design of new materials with improved properties.Solar-driven fuel synthesis is a sustainable and potentially economical technology for producing energy carriers such as “green” H2 fuel through water splitting. The main focus has been directed towards conjugated polymers – the newest family of photocatalysts material that is receiving global research attention.

  • SYNTHESIS AND CATALYSIS:Colloidal and radiation chemistry based  synthesis of organic and inorganic semiconductor semiconductor nanomaterials, polymer synthesis, engineering & functionalization
  • SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS:Multifunctional transition metal oxides,conjugated polymers nanostructures and polymer nanohybrids, semiconductor heterostructures
  • MATERIALS FOR ENERGY APPLICATIONS: Visible Light active Photocatalysis, Electrocatalysis, Water splitting  & Hydrogen generation,  Low Temperature Fuel cells

A. Conducting PolymerNanostructures and Nanohybrids for Energy Harvesting Application

  • Development of conducting polymer nanofibers as a new generation photocatalystswithout the need for any sacrificial electron donors or precious co catalyst which facilitates the use of sunlight for water depollution and environmental protection.
  • Fabrication of conducting polymer nanofiberas alternative catalystsupport (in contrast to expensive commercial Nafion membranes for alcohol fuel cells
  • Developed visible light active conjugated polymer based nanohybrids for photocatalytic water splitting and hydrogen generation
  • Photo-reduction of CO2 and solar fuel production
