Research Interest

  • His main activities are focused in the field of Fiber Bragg grating and long period grating for communication, fiber laser and sensor application (civil and strategic areas), designating specialized packaged FBG and low cost FBG sensor interrogation system. He is also having interest towards developing FBG based sensors for acousto-ultrasonic measurement along with development of special grating for ultra-narrow line-width fiber laser

Notable Research Contribution

  • Fibre Bragg grating (FBG) based embeddable, spot-weldable and surface mountable packaged sensor housing has been developed for strain and temperature measurement towards health monitoring of concrete and steel structure.
  • Developed packaged fiber Bragg grating (array/single) temperature sensor for industrial application.
  • Design and developed the compact vibration sensing device based on fiber Bragg grating sensor for health monitoring of civil structure (building and bridges) and also for high voltage electrical equipment.
  • Coated of high refractive index material on long period fiber grating (LPFG) sensor with nanometer thickness has been developed towards label -free bio-sensing application.
