Research Interest

Current research is focused on the study of local structures in technologically important nano/disordered materials from Laboratory based Atomic Pair Distribution Function (LAPDF) to determine the short range structure at atomic scale for better understanding the structure-property correlation at atomic label.

Crystal Structure Refinement & Structure Solution by Rietveld Analysis from X-ray Diffraction, Evaluation of Microstructural defects by X-ray line profile analysis, Nanostructure study from X-Ray Diffraction, Thin Film characterization by GIXRD, Phase transition and thermal behaviour study from High Temperature X-ray Diffraction.

Landmark Research Contributions

Developed model based X-ray diffraction techniques to utilize more scientific measurement data directly in the model fitting process for microstructural characterization of different materials in terms of microstructural parameters like crystallite size, lattice strain, lattice distortion, dislocation density, defect parameters (stacking faults, twining faults probabilities) etc. for structure-property correlation of materials.

Established Laboratory based Atomic Pair Distribution Function in a conventional X-Ray Diffractometer for the study of short range structures in nano/disordered materials.

  • Received Best Oral presentation Award in XXVII International Congress on Glass (ICG 2025) for the paper “Study of short-range  structural ordering in nano-structured ceramics and amorphous materials from  Laboratory based Atomic Pair Distribution Function (LAPDF) in a conventional X-ray diffractometer using Ag radiations” in the filed of Glass Science: Physics and Chemistry, presented in  XXVII International Congress on Glass (ICG 2025) organized by CSIR-Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute (CGCRI), Kolkata during 20th to 24th January, 2025 at Biswa  Bangla Convention Centre, Newtown, Kolkata.
