Fiber Bragg grating based vibration sensors and interrogation system for the application mentioned above has been developed. The system has been thoroughly evaluated at BHEL, Haridwar, and subsequently a set of 12 vibration sensors were deployed in the generator of Unit #3 at NTPC thermal power plant, DADRI. Online monitoring of vibration characteristics of the stator end winding is ongoing.
